‘SNL’ Releases Behind-the-Scenes Video of Fabulously Flatulent Sketch

On Feb. 11, Saturday Night Live aired a sketch in which one of the cast members, Mikey Day, couldn’t control a certain gastrointestinal function while doing sit-ups in gym class, with Alec Baldwin playing the unfortunate gym teacher. But, spoiler alert, that fabulous flatulence wasn’t real. SNL recently released a video showing how they captured that magic for live television.

As the countdown began to begin the scene, we see Steve Higgins, best known as Jimmy Fallon’s sidekick on The Tonight Show, walk into a sound booth and put on headphones. As Baldwin holds Day’s feet, Day begins doing sit-ups, and the perfectly timed sound of passing gas commences. Higgins provided a slightly different sound for each of the 22 sit-ups. After watching the video, it’s clear that Higgins’s talents are being wasted in late night.
