‘SNL’ Losing Obama and Trump: Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah Exit

Obama and Trump are leaving Saturday Night Live! Well, not literally, but Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah who impersonate them are not returning for the upcoming 42nd season. So does that mean SNL is betting everything on Hillary Clinton, and returning player Kate McKinnon? Maybe we all are…

Featured player Jon Rudnitsky will also bow out before next year, so today, let’s say “Thanks for all the laughs” with a supercut of our favorite impersonations from six seasons of Killam and Pharoah, plus one season of Rudnitsky.

Regarding the departure, Killam told Uproxx, “I had sort of had it in my head I would make this upcoming year my last year, but then heard they weren’t going to pick up my contract. I was never given a reason why, really. I can assume until the cows come home.”

Killam will be directing Arnold Schwarzenegger in Why We’re Killing Gunther, a movie he wrote and co-stars in with fellow SNL castmate Bobby Moynihan. The post-production would have overlapped with SNL’s next season, which may have led the show to not renew his contract.

The Simpsons also dumped Trump this week. Check out our coverage on SuperFan TV…

Season 42 of Saturday Night Live returns to NBC late this Fall.
