‘SNL’ Flashback: Watch the Show’s 2005 Spoof of Donald Trump’s ‘Days’ Cameo

A 2005 Saturday Night Live parody of Donald Trump’s guest appearance on Days of Our Lives was more prescient than could have been imagined, thanks to recently leaked audiotape of the Republican presidential candidate disparaging women. In the sketch, Trump (Darrell Hammond) repeatedly bungles his lines during a scene with Days actress Arianne Zucker (Amy Poehler), calls her the wrong name, and places his hands on her.

In real life, Zucker was one of the targets of Trump’s lewd off-the-record remarks captured on a “hot mic” prior to a Days of Our Lives set visit for a 2005 Access Hollywood segment. Before meeting the actress, Trump told Billy Bush, “I’ve got to use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her.” He continued, “You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p***y. You can do anything.”

The leaked conversation was repeatedly referred to in last weekend’s Saturday Night Live episode (below), which set its sights on the upcoming election. And as predicted by the fictional Trump in 2005, “The ratings are going to be huge.”
