'Snaketacular': Watch Snake Vs. Woodpecker
Warning: This above video, and, in fact, the entire hour of Discovery’s new Snaketacular, is not for the faint of heart.
The special premiering Sunday, hosted by Machete’s Danny Trejo, gets viewers up close and personal with snakes as experts provide insight on home videos of real snake encounters.

In the exclusive clip above, someone films a woodpecker (”the machete of the bird Kingdom” as Trejo says in his voiceover) poking furiously at a hole in a tree. Suddenly, a snake emerges and strikes. Experts assume the fearless, unrelenting woodpecker’s young are still inside the tree, and she’s trying to protect them.
