Simon Cowell, ‘America’s Got Talent’ Judges and Host to Return Next Season

NBC will bring back “America’s Got Talent” judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandell, as well as host Nick Cannon for next season. The renewal of all four judges’ deals was announced Tuesday by NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt at the Television Critics Association summer press tour Tuesday.

The current season of “America’s Got Talent,” the highest rated series of the summer, was the first for Cowell, who created the franchise and serves ad executive producer of the show. Wednesday’s episode, facing competition from the Democratic National Convention, drew a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 in Nielsen overnight numbers.

“With the addition of Simon, the chemistry between our judges has grown even stronger and it’s easy to see how much enthusiasm they bring to the show night after night,” said Paul Telegdy, president, alternative and reality group, NBC Entertainment, said in a subsequent statement. “Nick adds a boundless energy as host that ties everything together. We’re thrilled to have such a strong team returning for season 12.”

The “Got Talent” format is co-owned by Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia globally.

CBS launched All Access, a $6 a month streaming service, in 2014.
