Veteran Showtime Networks executive Frank Pintauro died Sunday at his home in New York after a long battle with cancer. He was 61.
Pintauro served as executive vice president, red group, where he oversaw the network's in-house ad agency and was co-head of the network's marketing and creative services department, reporting to Showtime Networks' chairman and chief executive Matthew C. Blank.
"The success of Showtime is due in large part to Frank's contributions over the past 20 years," said Blank. "He was a brilliant creative executive with an amazing work ethic and great integrity. All of us who worked closely with him came to appreciate his fairly simple life view. He cared deeply about his family first, and then the network and those who worked with him. Our hearts go out to the entire Pintauro family."

Pintauro was instrumental in developing the network's award-winning branding campaigns, and was responsible for overseeing creative for on-air, editorial production, marketing promotion and graphics, animation, digital content and print. Last year, under Pintauro's leadership, the Showtime red group was named In-House Creative Team of the Year by PromaxBDA (photo, right).
Previously, as a member of the network's programming department, he was charged with finding properties and programming concepts suitable for development, and was a key player in the development of the company's family films and the success of "Showtime Original Pictures."
Prior to joining Showtime in 1989, he held key positions at NBC Entertainment, ABC News and Hal Riney & Partners.
Pintauro is survived by his wife Kathy, and sons David and Tony, who works in the creative services department for Showtime Sports.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church in Sag Harbor, N.Y. on Friday, Oct. 12, and interment will follow at St. Andrews Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center here.
