Shocking Elimination for First Ninja to Ever Complete ‘American Ninja Warrior’
In 2015, Geoff Britten became the first competitor to ever complete Stage 4 of American Ninja Warrior. It took seven seasons of competition before Britten was the first to scale Mount Midoriyama, only to be followed by another ninja, Isaac Caldiero, who did it slightly faster. Caldiero got the million-dollar prize and the title, even though Britten was the one who broke the seven-year incompletion streak.
Britten’s bad luck carried over from last year, as the freelance cameraman from Maryland made it only two and a half steps into Stage 1 of the finals before being eliminated. Britten missteped almost immediately on the first obstacle, Snake Run, and quickly found himself in the water.
After the slip, Britten quickly jumped out of the water, turned to the camera, and with a smile said, “Everybody falls.” When he was asked about his plans for next season, Britten said, “Well, my plans are really simple: I’m gonna go back, I’m gonna try and be a good dad, I’m gonna try and be a good husband, and I’m gonna be very happy about it.”
American Ninja Warrior airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
