Shiri Appleby Considers Chris Harrison’s Issues With ‘UnREAL’ a Compliment

Oscar Wilde once said, “Life imitates art far more than art imitates life,” but obviously he never watched UnREAL.

Shiri Appleby was on Watch What Happens Live and was asked about the parallels between her show, UnREAL, and The Bachelor, on which her show is loosely based. When recalling stories from her producers, she was very candid.

“They definitely lock people in closets, pound them with alcohol, don’t let them speak to anyone at home,” explained Appleby. “All the things we do on the show I think are pretty true to what happens.”

Producers for The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, as well as host Chris Harrison, are not too pleased with the show’s depiction on UnREAL, but Appleby considers that to be a good thing.

“We take it as a huge compliment actually that they were offended,” Appleby said. “So we knew we were telling the truth.”
