Seven memorable Hugh Hefner TV appearances

With the passing of Hugh Hefner on Sept. 27, we’re taking a look back at some of his most memorable onscreen appearances.

In 1982, Hefner appeared in a hilarious scene in Laverne & Shirley that also featured Carrie Fisher. In the scene, Laverne (Penny Marshall) and Fisher’s character were both vying for the last available spot as a Bunny at the Playboy Club. Both of the ladies waited on Hef, and things got a bit messy.

On The Simpsons in 1993, Hef gave Bart a tour of his fictional Shelbyville mansion. Hef told Bart about the things people didn’t know about his mansion, like the laboratory, the biosphere, and the alternative-energy research center.

In 2000, on Sex and the City, Samantha (Kim Cattrall) met Hef and a couple of young ladies at a party, and he invited her to join them. When Samantha mused that drinking with three blondes was just a regular day for him, Hef replied that it was a slow one.

It’s only natural that Hef would appear on Entourage, a show about a famous movie star and his crew. In a 2005 episode, there was a mishap at a party at the Playboy mansion, and Hef banned Pauly Shore for life.

Also in 2005, Hef and Larry David had a little disagreement on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Hef had what he thought was a one-of-a-kind smoking jacket. Larry, on the other hand, was fairly certain that his dad had the same one.

It’s also only natural that when he appeared in a 2007 episode of Family Guy, Hef would run into the womanizing Quagmire. Quagmire was having a bad day, and Hef tried to cheer him up by giving him a pep talk. Unfortunately, it was a disturbing pep talk about deceased porn star John Holmes.

And then of course there’s The Girls Next Door, which started in 2005 and followed around Hef’s many girlfriends.
