Seth Meyers Says Why ‘Trump Is Worse Than Nixon’ in Brutal POTUS Smackdown (Video)

President Trump and President Nixon’s names have been uttered in the same breath frequently in recent days — so much so that the Nixon Library had to comment on it. But, according to “Late Night” host Seth Meyers, Trump is way worse.

In “A Closer Look” segment, which aired Monday night on NBC, Meyers broke down the latest from the Trump presidency. He included reports that Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian officials and also a range of responses on why he fired FBI director James Comey.

In response to a Washington Post report that Trump let slip classified information last week, Trump tweeted that he had the “absolute right” to do so.

“Trump is worse than Nixon,” said Meyers. “He’s shameless Nixon,” concluded the host. “Nixon famously said, ‘I am not a crook.’ Trump’s basically saying, ‘I am a crook and there’s nothing you can do about it and, in fact, I’m having three scoops of ice cream.”

That last part was in response to news that Trump takes his pie at the White House with extra scoops of ice cream, while everybody else gets one.

Aside from backlash for spilling secrets to Russia, Trump is also facing criticism for firing Comey. Despite word from his team — including Vice President Mike Pence — that the termination had nothing to do with the Capitol Hill’s Russia investigation, Trump admitted in an NBC News interview that it totally did.

“Normally, you only get a confession that blatant at the end of an episode of ‘Law & Order: SVU,'” Meyers joked. “But Tump’s like a guy who answers the door in the first five minutes, sees Ice T and says, ‘I’m guilty,’ and then the rest of the episode is just like a bake sale.”

“In a way it’s actually disorienting how blatant Trump is about all the shady stuff he does,” Meyers continued, before equating Trump’s behavior to that of a “sh—y high school student.”
