Sean Penn Gets Twitter Account Thanks to Stephen Colbert

On The Late Show, Stephen Colbert helped Sean Penn enter the digital age by creating a Twitter account for the actor. The star of such films as Mystic River and Milk mentioned that he was not very good with technology. Colbert asked if he was on Twitter, and when he found out Penn wasn’t, Colbert quickly replied, “Well, we signed you up.”

They then went about the process of crafting his first tweet. Thinking of the book that Penn narrated Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff, he suggested, “Pappy, where are ya?”

Then Colbert asked him what hashtag he should use. He replied, “I don’t know what a hashtag is.”

Before he sent off the tweet, he requested a drum roll. Then he sent the tweet into everyone’s feeds.

The Late Show airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
