First Lady Mellie Grant has had a rough ride over the last five seasons of Scandal, as she’s had to watch her husband, President Fitzgerald Grant III, repeatedly choose another woman (namely Olivia Pope) over her. The Olitz Affair has given Mellie many a migraine over the years, and the actress behind Mellie, Bellamy Young, has personal experience with migraines in real life — so her performance of the scorned wife is undoubtedly informed by her own personal pain.
