‘Scandal’ Sneak Peek: Did Cyrus Beene Order the Election Night Assassination?

Scandal‘s Cyrus Beene has plotted, manipulated, lied, and betrayed. But did he murder?

In last week’s stunning Season 6 premiere, presidential election winner Francisco Vargas was shot and killed during his victory speech. Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) theorized that his VP running mate, Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry), was behind the assassination.

At first, Olivia took back her accusation after seeing Cyrus catatonic with grief. But now she’s armed with a deleted tip line message from a woman who claims Cyrus killed Vargas. That woman is now conveniently dead.

In this exclusive sneak peek from Thursday’s new episode, Olivia tries to convince President Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn), chief of staff Abby Whelan (Darby Stanchfield), and Attorney General David Rosen (Josh Malina) that Cyrus was the mastermind behind the shooting. Fitz points out that the FBI didn’t find any evidence in the cabin.

“You sent a couple of scrubs out there!” Olivia complains.

“Actually, he sent the director,” replies a new arrival, Director Webster.

So, does Webster consider Cyrus a suspect in the death of Vargas? Watch to see what she says — and what Fitz is going to do about it.

Scandal airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
