'Scandal' Recap: Series Regular Gets Clubbed to Death

It was an action-packed Scandal Thursday night that saw a series regular get clubbed to death. The episode started with Jake sneaking into David Rosen’s house and telling him that his girlfriend is responsible for Governor Vargas’s assassination. And it ended with Mellie officially becoming the next president of the United States. But what happened in-between had fans freaking out!

Mellie showed up in her office to meet with Elizabeth North, but she also found Mr. Peus and Miss Ruland waiting for her. When she told them to get out, they told her that she was going to be their Trojan Horse into the White House. Although, Mellie stood up to their pressure, saying, “You will never step foot in my White House, let alone tell me what to do.” She then doubled-down on her threat, adding, “I will make it my mission to have you tried and hung for the murder of Frankie Vargas.”

That is when things got crazy. As Liz tried to calm everyone down, Miss Ruland knocked her out of the chair with a golf club, and then continued to bash in her head, killing her. As Mellie stood there, covered in blood, Mr. Peus made a few things clear to her. He said that Miss Ruland would now be her Chief of Staff, since Liz was “unavailable,” and if Mellie tried to lose the presidency, they would kill her kids.

While that was a lot to process, it was just the beginning as Fitz’s girlfriend, and Director of the FBI, wanted Olivia to be processed in jail for the murder of Governor Vargas. Which Olivia was actually on board with, but Fitz was not. So after Fitz went behind Olivia’s back and brought Papa Pope into custody, Olivia went to give Fitz a piece of her mind. Although, what she found was her dad safely in the custody of the President, and Fitz saying that he was ready to team up and go after Mr. Peus and Miss Ruland. Which got a kiss from Olivia, as the show ended with Mellie being announced as president and Olivia and Fitz going behind a closed door.
