‘Saturday Night Live’ #TBT: This Is Why Amy Schumer Is Nominated For an Emmy
Amy Schumer is living the best life right now. She just released a hilarious book, The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo, and she’s vying for two Emmys this year — best actress in a comedy for her show Inside Amy Schumer and best guest actress in a comedy for hosting Saturday Night Live.
She’s got some stiff competition in the latter category, including other SNL hosts, Melissa McCarthy and Tina Fey/Amy Poehler. Still, her episode was filled with some of the season’s best sketches, including the much-talked-about gun PSA, “Porn Teacher,” and “Delta Flight.” But it all started with Schumer’s monologue, not surprising since she’s a stand-up comedian.

The monologue started with Schumer skewering Hollywood’s body image issues: Little girls look up to the Kardashians, “a whole family of women who take the faces they were born with as a light suggestion.”
She also talked about meeting other celebrities, like Bradley Cooper, whose good looks would make any woman “grab your ankles.” After spending half an hour with him, she said, “I don’t know how Hollywood works, but I’m pretty sure I’m dating Bradley Cooper.” She joked that she even made it Facebook official.
Saturday Night Live returns for its 42nd season this fall.
