‘Saturday Night Live’ #TBT: The Rock Obama Body-Slams Politics

Can you smell what “The Rock” Obama is cooking? Yeah, that’s a body slam on the menu.

But what will be on the menu when wrestling star and actor John Cena hosts Saturday Night Live this weekend? Cena is just the third wrestler to host SNL, after Hulk Hogan and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Cena would do well to take a cue from the latter, who has proved to be an amazing MC, appearing in many memorable sketches over the years.

His best character is a recurring one: “The Rock” Obama. The Hulked-out version of President Obama first popped up in 2009, but Johnson reprised the role last year in this throwback clip. When Rep. John Boehner (Taran Killam), Sen. Ted Cruz (Bobby Moynihan), and Sen. Tom Cotton (Kyle Mooney) piss off Obama, he turns from mild-mannered Jay Pharoah to the head-crushing Johnson.

And don’t even try to mess with “She-Rock” Obama (Leslie Jones)!

Perhaps Cena will create his own recurring character. “Cena” Trump, anyone?
