‘Saturday Night Live’ #TBT: The Rock Cooks Up a Disney Movie on Overdrive
Can you smell what The Rock is cooking? It’s millions and millions of dollars at the box office.
Dwayne Johnson has become one of the most reliable, popular movie stars in Hollywood. He’s part of the blockbuster Fast and Furious franchise; he’s remaking Baywatch and Jumanji; he’s starring as a superhero in DC Comics’ Shazam; and he’s ruling comedy, too, appearing opposite Kevin Hart in this week’s Central Intelligence.

When he hosted Saturday Night Live last year, it was one of the best episodes of the season. And one of the best sketches of that episode was this Digital Short, a trailer for a live-action, edgy sequel to Disney’s Bambi.
Johnson plays a jacked-up Bambi, who’s looking to avenge his mother’s death at the hands of hunters. “Now it’s time for them to pay… deer-ly,” he snarls.
On his team: Vin Diesel as Thumper (Taran Killam); Tyrese Gibson as Flower (Jay Pharoah); and Michelle Rodriguez as Faline (Cecily Strong). And they’re ready to go out, guns a-blazing.
“One last ride,” Diesel mumbles, as a butterfly lands on Johnson’s nose.
Saturday Night Live returns this fall for its 42nd season.
