‘Saturday Night Live’ #TBT: Merry Hillary-mas

Over the decades, Saturday Night Live has taken great pleasure in skewering politicians, government, and the electoral process. Next week, the nightmare that’s been the 2016 presidential election will finally be over. It’s been a long, grueling, headache-inducing run. But at least SNL has given us some amazing sketches and impressions.

SNL players have delivered amazing performances as politicians — from Dana Carvey’s George H.W. Bush to Will Ferrell’s George W. Bush to Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin. And then you’ve got Amy Poehler and Kate McKinnon, who both played Hillary Clinton. In this flashback clip from last December, they share the same stage for the first time in a side-by-side Hillary comparison.

“You changed your hair… Your laugh is different, too,” Poehler’s 2008 Hillary tells McKinnon’s Clinton. “It’s less joyful.”

Then, 2008 Hillary does 2015 Hillary a major favor — by breaking her phone!

And since Poehler was co-hosting SNL with Fey, Sarah Palin also dropped in with some sage advice. “If it gets too hard, just quit. Who cares?”

SNL airs a new episode hosted by Benedict Cumberbatch with musical guest Solange on Saturday at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
