‘Saturday Night Live’ #TBT: Melissa McCarthy Becomes a Legend as Sean Spicer

Saturday Night Live has featured many memorable characters and impressions over its four-decade history, and Melissa McCarthy’s take on press secretary Sean Spicer stands up there alongside the greats.

McCarthy is joining the Five-Timers Club when she hosts SNL this weekend, and fellow Five-Timer — plus some — Alec Baldwin is set to appear as Donald Trump, so it’s a safe bet she’ll do her Spicer impression again.

The first time she played Spicer on Feb. 4 was a surprise appearance. The unannounced cameo makes the audience roar — which is a perfect set-up for McCarthy.

“SETTLE DOWN!” she shouts.

Then, her Spicer acknowledges the problems he’s faced with the press.

“Before we begin, I know that myself and the press have gotten off to a rocky start. And when I say rocky, I mean Rocky the movie because I came out here to punch you. In the face. And also I don’t talk so good.”

From there, McCarthy touched on Spicer’s gum-chewing habit, fondness for alternative facts, and combative style.

With the brouhaha over FBI director James Comey’s firing, her Spicer impression this week should be comedy gold.

Watch McCarthy host with musical guest HAIM on Saturday at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
