‘SNL’ #TBT: ‘Girls Trip’ Star Queen Latifah Has a Headache

The movie Girls Trip is already a sensation, opening to rave reviews, strong audience word of mouth, and box office success.

While everyone is talking about breakout star Tiffany Haddish, the movie is anchored by three established actresses — Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall, and Queen Latifah. The latter has hosted Saturday Night Live twice, once in 2003 and again in 2004, and has made cameo appearances over the years.

In this throwback commercial parody from 2004, Latifah is a black woman severely in need of Excedrin for Racial Tension Headaches when she’s at work.

“From the moment I get in, it’s ‘Denise, we need this. Denise we need that,’” she says wearily, adding, it’s “stressful because my name is Linda. Denise is the other black woman that works here.”

Then there’s the aggravation caused by all the incessant questions about black people, as if they’re aliens. “Yes, black people use shampoo,” a frustrated Linda says with a sigh. Given the current political climate, Linda would probably need Extra-Strength Excedrin right now.

SNL returns for its 43rd season this fall on NBC.
