‘Saturday Night Live’ #TBT: Forever ‘Firelight’

It’s hard to believe the first Twilight movie came out nearly a decade ago (yes, 2008!). Since then, Kristen Stewart has become synonymous with the franchise

But Stewart’s got more up her acting sleeve than moody vampire romance. She’s earned accolades for Clouds of Sils Maria, Still Alice, and Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. She also recently made her directorial debut with a short titled Come Swim.

The actress is appearing for the first time as host on Saturday Night Live this weekend, and we couldn’t resist finding this digital short parody of the Twilight movies in the archives. The bit is called “Firelight” and hails from a Taylor Swift-hosted episode in 2009.

Swift plays the wide-eyed, breathless teen (a la Stewart’s Bella Swan), who falls for a guy considered a monster by some.

“Don’t bother,” her friends caution.

Oh, but she’s going to bother. This the guy is no vampire. He’s a “frank” — a Frankenstein. And their love story has all the usual obstacles, like an all-consuming fear of fire and the constant threat of accidentally being choked to death.

Stewart hosts SNL with musical guest Alessia Cara this Saturday at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
