The holiday season is filled with parties — your grandmother’s Christmas cookie shindig, office celebrations, Hanukkah feasts, New Year’s Eve bashes. But when attending a holiday party, beware of getting trapped into talking to an annoying guest — like Saturday Night Live’s The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party, played by Cecily Strong.

The recurring character debuted on “Weekend Update” in 2012 and appeared three times in that season, including this holiday-themed bit. The Girl rants about all the “mercialism” (read: commercialism) ruining the holidays. “It’s a trajesty,” she drunkenly complains.
She badgers anchor Seth Meyers about his lack of knowledge about what’s really going on in the world. “There are homeless people out there who can’t even pay for their mortgages,” she informs him, adding, “Read something, Seth. Learn a book.”

The worst part about the holidays? “I’m sorry, why can’t Secret Santa be openly gay?” The Girl wonders. “Hello, it’s 2010!” (It’s actually 2012, but whatever.)
