'Saturday Night Live' #TBT: Avengers, Assemble!

When Chris Hemsworth hosts Saturday Night Live this weekend, it’ll be the first time the actor has taken the stage at Studio 8H, but it won’t be the first time his alter-ego, Thor, has.

Back in November 2012, Jeremy Renner — Hemsworth’s co-star in The Avengers and the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron — hosted the show and took part in a sketch parodying their megahit movie.

Renner played his character, Hawkeye, with Bill Hader as Hemsworth’s Thor. Rounding out the sketch were Jason Sudeikis as Iron Man, Taram Killam as Captain America, Kate McKinnon as Black Widow, and Bobby Moynihan as the Hulk.

The team is ready to take on the world-threatening alien invasion forces — well, except Thor needs a scrunchie. Anybody? Hello?

But things start to go south for the Avengers, (no) thanks to Hawkeye, who — let’s face it — is barely a superhero. And now he’s out of arrows. “My arrow thing only holds 11,” Renner shrugs. “You’re welcome.”

If Hemsworth and the SNL cast do another Avengers sketch, let’s hope Hawkeye got a bigger “arrow thing.”

Hemsworth will be joined by musical guest the Zac Brown Band.

Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
