‘Saturday Night Live’ #TBT: Are You Ready for Some Football Intros?

The biggest event in American television is almost upon us: the Super Bowl. There’s just one week left to determine which team reigns supreme, the New England Patriots or the Atlanta Falcons.

Saturday Night Live is also taking the weekend off, but the late-night sketch comedy show has certainly zinged the NFL in the past. Take this bit from 2014, featuring host Chris Pratt along with several male cast members as fake NFL players. SNL skewers the assault controversies dogging the league at the time with this intro lineup.

“Derrick Watkins,” Kenan Thompson says with a big grin. “Assault!”

Then there’s Bobby Moynihan as “Kyle Jeffries, manslaughter.”

Don’t forget “Abaskuul Sulemon, Somali pirate” and Victor Naples, who did “a whole bunch of stuff.” And of course that guy who sent Michelle Obama a pic of his ding-dong.

SNL returns Feb. 4 with host Kristen Stewart and musical guest Alessia Cara.
