The circle is growing around Laurie Anderson and Todd Haynes.
The Hammer Museum is finalizing details on its upcoming Bottega Veneta-sponsored Gala in the Garden, which will fete the artist/musician and the filmmaker at an exclusive gala on Oct. 8 in Westwood.
As previously announced, Bottega Veneta Creative Director Tomas Maier is returning as co-chair but he will be joined this year by co-chairs Jodie Foster and Alexandra Hedison, along with Robert Soros. Also revealed today by the Hammer is that author Karl Ove Knausgaard will present the tribute to Anderson while newly-minted Emmy winner Sarah Paulson will offer kind words on behalf of her Carol director Haynes.
And while the tributes definitely keep the attention of the well-heeled guests, the night always features a can't-miss musical set and 2016 will be no different with Rufus Wainwright committed to perform, fresh from his recent performance at New York Fashion Week. Also revealed: Pedro&Juana will create a customized lantern installation for the museum courtyard.
Proceeds from the gala support the Hammer's nationally acclaimed exhibitions and public programs. (Last year's event raised more than $2 million.) Chef Suzanne Goin of Lucques will craft the night's menu once again. Past honorees include Paul McCarthy, Diane Keaton, Mark Bradford, Joni Mitchell, Robert Gober, Tony Kushner, Barbara Kruger, Cindy Sherman, Matt Groening, Lari Pittman, Alice Waters, Charles Ray, Miuccia Prada, John Baldessari, Joan Didion, Ed Ruscha, Dave Eggers and Frank Gehry.
