'Modern Family' Star Sarah Hyland on Haley's 'Friends'-Like Love Triangle

Modern Family star Sarah Hyland says she’s loving the “will they or won’t they” storyline between her character, Haley Dunphy, and baby Joe’s “bro pair” Andy (Adam Devine) on the hit ABC comedy, and she points to Friends-like obstacles (replace Ross’s Julie with Andy’s Beth) as to why the opposites-attract couple haven’t hooked up yet. “There’s always something in the way for them,” she explains. Hyland adds that she loves what Modern Family is currently doing with Haley, Andy, and his girlfriend Beth (Laura Ashley Samuels), and she also teases the show’s Season 6 finale (airing May 20). Though the cast is signed on for two more seasons, Hyland admits she sometimes worries about the day Modern Family wraps for good. “I can’t even imagine it ending,” she says. “I’d just be bawling all the time.” So would ABC executives, no doubt.

Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
