Samantha Bee Tries to Buy NRA Mascot Costume, Ends Up with Tons of Guns

Samantha Bee thought it would be easy to get a costume of the National Rifle Association’s GunSafe Program mascot, Eddie Eagle. But after dealing with the NRA’s many regulations on purchasing the Eddie costume, she found it much easier to buy guns instead.

On her TBS program, Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, the former Daily Show correspondent said she wanted to procure her very own Eddie Eagle costume to use to mock gun regulations. So, over the course of a few weeks, Bee and her team scoured the Internet to find a costume to buy. But they had no luck.

The Full Frontal host actually created an LLC for a plausible gun safety group in North Carolina, registered it with the IRS, made a website, got a PO Box, and even made some hats. Unfortunately, it was all for nothing, and she got shot down again by the NRA’s Eddie Eagle headquarters.

While she was unable to get the costume, Bee and her staff were able to purchase numerous guns with ease — from a shotgun out of the trunk of some guy’s car to one at a New Mexico gun show where the seller only asked if the person buying the gun was a felon.

After exhausting all of her resources, Bee finally gave up and took things into her own hands, making her very own Eddie Eagle costume out of some of the guns bought along the way.
