‘Walking Dead’ Finds Villain Negan in Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Spoiler warning: This article contains plot details from “The Walking Dead” comic books.

“The Walking Dead” has cast Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the infamous villain Negan, Variety has confirmed.

Negan is one of the comic book series’ biggest baddies — the leader of the Saviors, a ruthless group that demands food and supplies from other communities in “exchange” for protection from the walkers.

He’s expected to make his grand debut at the end of the show’s current sixth season, possibly in the finale, and return in season seven.

In Robert Kirkman’s comics, Negan murders Glenn (Steven Yeun) with a barb-wired baseball bat called Lucille, leading fans of the hit AMC zombie drama to believe that Glenn is not dead … yet. However, Yeun’s name is no longer part of the show’s opening credits.

Morgan joins another new cast member: “Luck” star Tom Payne will play Paul Monroe — aka Jesus.

Morgan currently stars in “The Good Wife.” His other CBS show, “Extant,” was recently cancelled after two seasons.

He will appear in another comic book adaptation, playing Bruce Wayne’s father in the upcoming “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” He also starred in Alan Moore’s big screen take on the graphic novel “Watchmen.”

Morgan is repped by UTA, Rob Gomez Management and Bloom Hergott.
