‘The Voice,’ ‘Sing Off’ Return Keep NBC No. 1 on Monday
“The Voice” and the return of “The Sing Off” kept NBC No. 1 in primetime Monday, extending the Peacock’s winning streak in the 18-49 demo to eight out of the past nine nights.
NBC also easily won the total viewers race on Monday with more than a 3 million margin over Fox, ABC and CBS.
Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow” returned after a week off to steady numbers. ABC had a little spark from 9-10 p.m. with its holiday special “The Great Christmas Light Fight.” CBS placed fourth for the night with most of its comedies in rerun mode.
Ratings for the conclusion of the “Bonnie and Clyde” miniseries that aired simultaneously on Lifetime, History and A&E Network will be released later today.
Warbler competish “Sing Off” (pictured) opened its fourth season in the 9-11 p.m. berth with an average 2.4 rating/6 share in adults 18-49 and 8.4 million viewers. That was up by double-digits from its third-season bow in September 2011.
“Sing Off” got a boost from the 8 p.m. lead-in as “Voice” (3.4/9, 12.8m) delivered its best total-viewer tally since Oct. 28. NBC has held on to the demo since last Monday with the exception of Saturday, when Fox carried the Big 10 college football championship.
Fox was No. 2 for the night in 18-49 with its drama combo of “Almost Human” (1.8/5, 6m) and “Sleepy Hollow (2.1/5, 6.5m). ABC had its best traction of the night with 9 p.m.’s “Christmas Light Fight” (1.8/4, 6.6m), which the Alphabet noted was its best showing in the time period in five years.
CBS didn’t have much to sing about on Monday other than a nice lift at 9 p.m. for an original “Mike and Molly” (2.0/5, 7.6m) coming out of an 8:30 p.m. “2 Broke Girls” ( 1.2/3, 4.8m ) rerun. Frosh drama “Hostages” (1.1/3, 4.7m) at 10 p.m. flirted with sub-1 demo rating.
CW was in holiday-light mode with specials “Kung Fu Panda Holiday,” “Merry Madagascar” and “One Direction IHeartRadio Album Release Party” adding up to 918,000 viewers for the night.
