Per EW.com, the actor — whose résumé essentially consists of the aforementioned axed series and an episode of How I Met Your Mother — is joining Season 2 of the heartwarming comedy as a series regular.

Jones will play the über-laid back Scott, the younger brother of Christina Applegate’s Reagan who, after going through a divorce, comes to town with his unruly 5-year-old son.
