TVLine Items: J.J. Abrams Shops Rod Serling Series, Guy/Girl Top Model Debut Date and More

You’re traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of… a new Rod Serling-created series hitting the small screen thanks to J.J. Abrams.

The prolific producer’s Bad Robot Prods. has acquired the rights to the late Twilight Zone creator’s never-before-produced final feature script, titled The Stops Along The Way.

A limited-event series based on the screenplay — about which there are no details available — has been put into development by Abrams’ company via a deal with Warner Bros. TV.

America’s Next Top Model‘s 20th (!) cycle — which, for the first time, features female and male competitors — premieres Aug. 2 on The CW.

• Warehouse 13 star Allison Scagliotti will guest star in an upcoming episode of Switched at Birth, TVLine has confirmed. The actress will appear in the July 15 hour as Aida, a tough, cool and confident medic, who served in Afghanistan with Ty (Blair Redford). Creator Lizzy Weiss first tweeted the news.

• Former Current TV newsman Keith Olbermann has been tapped to host TBS’ Major League Baseball postseason series. He joins the series’ analysts Ron Darling and MLB Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley.

• Boardwalk Empire alum Bobby Cannavale is nearing a deal to topline HBO’s rock ‘n’ roll drama pilot, per The Hollywood Reporter. From exec producers Terence Winter, Martin Scorsese and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, the project centers on a cocaine-fueled record executive (Cannavale) in 1970s New York City.

• A nearly unrecognizable Helena Bonham-Carter (The King’s Speech) and Dominic West (The Wire) are bringing their Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton best in the following promo shot for BBC4′s upcoming biopic, which centers on the tumultuous twosome’s 1983 Broadway production of Noel Coward’s Private Lives.
