Trevor Noah Assures Correspondents “Nothing’s Going To Change” On ‘The Daily Show’

“It’s still The Daily Show, nothing’s going to change,” Trevor Noah assures the three remaining members of Jon Stewart’s Best F#@king News Team Ever – and viewers – in a new promo video for Noah’s September 28 debut as host.

Days earlier, The Daily Show announced it had hired Baratunde Thurston to oversee creation and production of original content for digital and social outlets, calling the hire part of the “evolution of The Daily Show under new host Trevor Noah.” Thurston, who will spearhead the creation and production of platform-specific original content that’s “organic to The Daily Show mission while expanding the series footprint,” spent five years as digital director at The Onion, co-hosted the podcast About Race and wrote the New York Times bestseller How To Be Black.

And, about a month ago, Noah told reporters at TCA that the show will not continue taking shots at Fox News Channel — a favorite target of Jon Stewart. FNC is not relevant, Noah explained, noting that Gawker and other sites from which Noah said his generation gets its information. “The biggest challenge is how to bring all of that together and look at it through the bigger lens, as opposed to going after one source which, yes, historically was Fox News,” Noah said.

And those who expect The Daily Show With Trevor Noah to continue to be the place to celebrate the lunacy of the 2016 White House race might be in for a shock, based on the South African comedian’s official debut for The Reporters Who Cover Television at TCA. There was not a Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders joke in sight as Noah performed an hourlong set at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica.
