Suburgatory Scoop: Tim Meadows, Paula Newsome to Offer Parental Guidance

Count Tim Meadows as the latest Saturday Night Live vet to call Suburgatory‘s Chatswin home.

TVLine has learned that Meadows has booked a multi-episode role on the sophomore ABC comedy as the father of Tessa’s friend Malik (Maestro Harrell). His character, Edmond, is described as “the strong patriarch of a close-knit family,” someone who moved his brood to Chatswin for the schools, not the people. Edmond is proud of his recipe for turkey meatballs (yummm) and blames himself for the childhood death of his younger brother (um, OK). He’ll first appear in Episode 7.

In addition to Suburgatory regular Ana Gasteyer, other SNL alumni to visit Chatswin include Chris Parnell and Rachel Dratch (who is set to guest-star this fall in the Halloween episode).

Playing Mailk’s mother, meanwhile, is onetime Women’s Murder Club member/recurring NCIS player Paula Newsome.
