Smash Books Liza Minnelli for Season 2 Duet
NBC’s Smash has called upon a real “Broadway Baby” — legendary entertainer Liza Minnelli — to guest-star on Season 2.
In a midseason episode titled “The Surprise Party,” Minnelli will appear as herself, to sing an original duet with Christian Borle‘s Tom, New York Magazine’s Vulture column reports.
In touting the casting, NBC boss Robert Greenblatt said, “I had the pleasure of working with Liza when we restored her landmark television special Liza With a Z at Showtime, and to see her artistry up close and personal is a thing to behold.”
