Simon Cowell Is Confident That The X Factor Will Beat Strictly Come Dancing In The Ratings Battle

Part of the excitement of The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing returning is the inevitable ratings war that comes with it - Otherwise known as a battle to see which show will be relegated to the ‘record’ button.

However, despite losing out to sequins and sev-ERNs last year, sassy Simon Cowell is not-so-quietly confident that his ITV show will reign supreme this year.

NEW IDEA: Can’t we just combine the two shows to combat all this battling? Strictly Come X Factor? The Strictly Factor? X Factor Comes Dancing? COME ON.

According to The Mirror, after asking who was on this year’s Strictly, the 55-year-old, who’s feeling pretty good about his show this year, said: “And who’s the worst? Peter Andre?

“I hate to say yes because it will come back and haunt me but I feel X Factor feels better, the talent is great, they’re interesting. So if it’s us VS Peter Andre I’ve got to put my money on us.”

Fighting talk, there Simon.

This year Judge’s Houses will be live and we’re told locations will be both in and outside the UK. And, to make the ratings war even more juicy, there will be “no unavoidable clashes” between X Factor and Strictly. An X Factor spokeswoman explained: “ITV has the Rugby World Cup this autumn and some of those matches are on Saturdays so we have a slightly different pattern to our schedule. We hope there will be no unavoidable clashes with Strictly, so where it is possible for us both to schedule separately we hope that the BBC will find themselves able to avoid us.”

He continued on to say that he’s had “a good time this year,” explaining: “You want judges who want to judge the talent and actually want to find an artist - that’s what I noticed when I was working with these guys, and with Olly and Caroline.

“It is like being on a new show. It’s been fun. I have had my moments with Madame (Fernandez-Versini), but overall I’ve had a really good time this year. It’s been unpredictable.”

Oh you big tease you, Simon. Saturday night can’t come quick enough - And not just because we’ve been resisting the urge to tuck into the big bag of crisps we brought especially for the show’s start ALL DARN WEEK.

Don’t worry, though, Simon hasn’t forgotten about ex-judge Louis Walsh, joking: “The good thing about Louis is he’s going to be able to go to bed earlier. He can watch the show in bed in his PJs and he can call me after the show.

“We’ve got a couple of seats in the live shows - restricted viewing - but I’m looking after him. Maybe we’ll make him Judge of the Week one week or something.”

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini added: “He’s a really good sport. He came down to our promo and he did a bit to show he’s a good sport about it. He’s happier, actually, not being on it.”

Even new judge Nick Grimshaw can see how happy Lou is now, revealing: “He came into the dressing room that me and Rita had and he was the happiest he’s ever been.

“He was like, ‘You two do not know what you have got yourself into’. He was really happy. But he did want there to be a fifth judge.”

Grimmy isn’t afraid of ribbing his head judge though, replying to Simon’s quotes on Twitter by saying: “He’s so sassy.”

That he is, Grimmy. That he is.
