Shark Attack Survivor Hamilton Talks Wedding Plans
Bethany Hamilton Ties the Knot in Hawaii
Surfing champion and shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton is revealing plans for a summer wedding to her fiancé Adam Dirks!
Bethany, 23, tells In Touch Weekly that she'll walk down the aisle in an Anne Barge gown on her special day. "I feel like a princess!" she said while modeling the gown at Mark Ingram bridal shop in New York.
Bethany -- who recounted in the book and movie Soul Surfer her inspirational story about how she recovered from a 2003 shark attack in which she lost her left arm -- also revealed how she's managed to keep her faith and overcome insecurities.
"I always felt it would be hard for me to meet someone because I'm different," said Bethany, who met her fiancé Adam on a blind date in May 2012. "To say I was completely comfortable looking at myself in the mirror and seeing one arm would be a lie. I just had to trust in God and know that he had someone special for me."
Bethany -- who still competes professionally in surfing and serves as a spokeswoman for Zico coconut water -- says she is happy to be planning her dream wedding to take place later this summer. "I'm living a fairy tale. I feel loved... just as I am."
