Scarlett Johansson to Make Directorial Debut
REPORT: Scarlett Johansson Is Pregnant
Add directing to the list of Scarlett Johansson's many talents.
The 28-year-old actress is set to make her directorial debut with Summer Crossing, a film adaptation of Truman Capote's first novel of the same name, Deadline reports.
"Several years ago I began working alongside the Capote estate and writer Tristine Skylar to adapt Summer Crossing, an inspired early work of Truman’s which has long captured my heart,” Johansson confirmed. "Being able to bring this story to the screen as my full-length directorial debut is a life dream and deep privilege."
Summer Crossing is about a 17-year-old debutant who trades in her parents' Parisian travels for a romance with a Jewish valet parking attendant in the middle of a 1945 summer heat wave in New York City. Capote threw the novel in the trash, but it fell into the hands of the apartment janitor, who wisely hung on to it. In 2004, it was published with the blessing of Capote's former editor.
No word yet on who will star in Johansson's directorial debut.
