Sarah Palin to Rejoin Fox News Channel as Contributor
Former Alaska Go. Sarah Palin is set to rejoin Fox News Channel as a contributor, the News Corp. cable-news outlet said Thursday.
Palin, a one-time Republican candidate for U.S. vice president who parlayed her exposure in national politics into punditry, books, media appearances and even a short-lived TV show on Discovery Communications’ TLC, offered opinion and analysis for Fox News for about three years, but the two parties disclosed an amicable departure in January.
“I’ve had several conversations with Governor Palin in the past few weeks about her rejoining Fox News as a contributor,” said Roger Ailes, chairman and chief executive of the network in a prepared statement. ” I have great confidence in her and am pleased that she will once again add her commentary to our programming. I hope she continues to speak her mind.” Palin is expected to contribute also to Fox Business Network.
Her first appearance under the renewed relationship will take place June 17 during the cable network’s morning program, “Fox and Friends.” Interestingly that date is also set for the launch of “New Day,” the morning program from CNN.
“The role of Fox News in the important debates in our world is indispensable,” Palin said in a statement. ” I am pleased and proud to be rejoining Roger Ailes and the great people at Fox.”
Prior to joining Sen. John McCain on the 2008 presidential ticket, Palin was the first woman to serve as governor of Alaska, taking the oath in 2006, but she did not finish her term. As governor, she worked on improving resource development, education, health and transportation and infrastructure development. Palin also served two terms on the Wasilla City Council in Alaska as well as two terms as the mayor of Wasilla, and worked as an oil and gas industry regulator.
