Ratings: Univision Beats English-Language Networks on Night of Repeats
Spanish-language network Univision scored a rare ratings win over all of the English-language networks Wednesday, a night when the only new show they aired was CBS' broadcast of the "Kennedy Center Honors."
Univision was first in the advertiser-cherished 18-49 demographic with a 1.7 rating/5 share. It was third in total viewers, behind CBS and NBC.
Univision's night of original programming helped the network win a night the networks all but ceded by airing almost nothing but reruns. At 8 p.m., Univision's "Por Ella Soy Eva" ("For Her I'm Eva") scored a 1.6/5 and 3.9 million total viewers. At 9, "Amores Verdaderos" ("True Love") (pictured) scored a 1.8/5 and 4.6 million. At 10, "Amor Bravío" ("Fierce Love") had a 1.6/5 and 4 million.
CBS was second in the ratings with a 1.5/4 and tops in total viewers with 8.3 million. At 8, it aired a "Criminal Minds" repeat that tied "Modern Family" for the top-rated show of the night after "Amores Verdaderos." Both "Criminal Minds" and "Modern Family" had a 1.7/5. "Criminal Minds" was also the most-watched show with 8.5 million total viewers. At 9, the 35th annual "Kennedy Center Honors" had a 1.4/4 -- up 27 percent from last year's rating. It had 8.2 million total viewers.
NBC was third in the ratings with a 1.1/3 and second in total viewers with 4.3 million, airing only repeats.
ABC was fourth in the ratings with a 1.0/3 and in total viewers with 3.9 million. It also aired only repeats.
Fox, with four "Ben & Kate" repeats, was fifth in the ratings with a .7/2 and in total viewers with 1.5 million.
