RATINGS RAT RACE: ‘Wipeout’ Down & Up, ‘Big Brother’ Flat, ‘Saving Hope’ ‘Rock Center’ & ‘Oh Sit!’ Up Big, ‘The Next’ Falls

Thursday was a TV double sixes, at least if you’re ABC. Last night the network ran back-to-back new episodes of Wipeout, their obstacle course reality show. The 8 PM (1.5/5) Wipeout was down 6% from last week’s 1.6/6 but the 9 PM (1.7/5) was actually up 6% from last week’s 8 PM Wipeout broadcast. ABC followed the double Wipeout with Rookie Blue (1.2/4) at 10 PM. The series was up 9% from last week. Over on CBS, it was a double eviction episode of Big Brother (2.2/7). The multi-night sometimes hot tub inhabiting reality series was flat with last Thursday’s broadcast. After kicking off the night with encores of The Office (1.0/3) and Parks and Recreation (0.9/3), NBC had a new episode of Saving Hope (0.8/2), watched by 3.7 million total viewers. The supernatural medical series was up a stellar 33% from last week. However, it’s worth noting that because of local NFL pre-seasons preemptions, NBC’s fast national numbers on Thursday night are inflated. Saving Hope was followed by Rock Center With Brian Williams (1.2/3). Up 20% from last week and watched by 5.4 million viewers in total, the newsmagazine show’s demo rating was tied for its top of the summer. The CW’s Oh Sit! (0.4/1) was up a good 33% from last week. However, that number wasn’t so great for The Next (0.2/1). The new singing competition series was down 33% from its premiere last week. CBS won the night among the Adult 18-49 demo and, with 6.205 million watching, in total viewers.

Otherwise it was pretty much all repeats across the networks. CBS had The Big Bang Theory (2.1/7) at 8 PM. The science geek series repeat was, with 7.55 million tuning in, the most watched show on TV last night. After that CBS had Two and A Half Men (1.7/6) at 8:30 PM and, after Big Brother, Person of Interest (1.1/3) at 10 PM. Fox ran a full night of repeats with Raising Hope (0.8/3), New Girl (0.8/3) and Glee (0.7/2).
