RATINGS RAT RACE: MLB All-Star Game A Win For Fox, ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ & “Perfect Score’ Debut Strong
After three losing years, the American League beat the National League 3-0 last night in the MLB All-Star Game (2.9/9). That wasn’t the only win as the Yankees’ Mariano Rivera pitched a perfect 8th inning in the game too and Fox took the night among adults 18-49 and total viewers with 10.28 million watching the game in primetime. As is typical for such live sporting events, expect an adjustment in the numbers later today but as it stands right now last night’s All-Star Game is even with fast nationals from last year’s match-up.

Almost a decade after Whose Line Is It Anyway? wrapped up its run on ABC, the improv comedy series started its new life on The CW last night. Aisha Tyler of The Talk takes over as host for this 12-episode season but Colin Mochrie, Wayne Brady and Ryan Stiles were back. And out of the gate, WLIIA is working for the CW. The 8 PM premiere of WLIIA (1.1/4) was up a whooping 120% from the 0.5/2 of last summer’s Oh Sit premiere on August 15, 2012. The show was the CW’s most watched unscripted premiere since The Pussycat Dolls Present debuted back on March 6, 2007 and delivered the network its best 18-49 result since February 1, 2011.The premiere of WLIIA, which was watched by 2.86 million, was followed by another new episode at 8:30 PM (1.1/4) that held perfectly steady. Dating series Perfect Score made its debut after WLIIA. The FremantleMedia North America show created and EPed by Scott St. John kicked off with a 9 PM (0.4/1) show. That debut was up 33% from the network’s Next premiere back on August 16, 2012. Like WLIIA, Perfect Score’s debut was followed by another new episode at 9:30 PM (0.3/1).
Among repeats on ABC and NBC, the only originals were Reality TV on Tuesday. After an encore of Hollywood Game Night (1.1/4) at 8 PM, America’s Got Talent (2.5/7) really started separating the wheat from the chaff. While the judges were cutting contestants left, right and center last night while sending another bunch through to the quarter-finals, the two-hour show only saw a slight 4% dip from last week as it faced baseball over on Fox. AGT was the second highest rated and second most watched show of the night with 9.83 million viewers. On ABC, Extreme Weight Loss didn’t gain any ratings pounds but it didn’t shed any either. Head-to-head with most of the All-Star Game, the two-hour show stayed even with its July 9 show.
CBS was all repeats on Tuesday.
