Ratings Rat Race: ‘Desperate Housewives’ Rises En Route To Finale

The penultimate episode of ABC’s Desperate Housewives (2.8/7) jumped 12% from last week as the veteran dramedy is heading to its two-hour series finale next Sunday. Its lead-out, the season finale of GCB (1.8/5) didn’t get a bump, down a tenth from its fast national last week, flat with the finale. Leading into Desperate Housewives was Once Upon A Time (3.0/8), up a tenth from its fast national last week, flat with the final, and once again the top program of the night among adults 18-49. It had some help from America’s Funniest Home Videos (2.0/7), which was up a whopping 33% from last week to dominate the 8 PM hour and rank higher than any series on NBC last night. (Dateline, at 0.7/2, and Harry’s Law, 0.7/2, were both down 13% from last week, with Harry’s Law hitting a series low. Celebrity Apprentice, 1.9/5, was flat with its fast national last week, down a tenth from the final.) ABC won the night in adults 18-49, CBS was tops in total viewers.

CBS was paced by the two-hour season finale of The Amazing Race (2.6/7), which was even with last spring’s finale. With The Amazing Race vs. The Good Wife as a lead-in, struggling rookie drama about rookie cops NYC 22 (1.3/3) was up a tenth. At 7:30 PM, Fox’s The Cleveland Show (1.4/4) was down a tenth from last week. The Simpsons (2.1/6) was down 9%, Bob’s Burgers (1.8/5) was off 5%. Family Guy (2.7/7) was down a tenth, while American Dad (2.3/5) was up 15% from its last original five weeks ago and 21% from the episode of Cleveland Show, which aired in the slot last week.
