RATINGS RAT RACE: ‘Blue Bloods’ & ‘CSI:NY’ Hit Season Highs, ‘Malibu Country’ Up, ‘Fringe’ Returns Down

Friday was a very good night for cop shows on CBS. CSI: NY (1.6/5) was up 13% over last week’s show for a season high. Rising 23% over its January 4 show, Blue Bloods (1.6/5) also hit a season high last night. The family police drama was also the most watched show of the night with 11.13 million viewers. Starting off CBS’ primetime Friday earlier, Undercover Boss (1.8/6) also had a good night. The reality series was up a solid 20% over January 4’s broadcast. In their second week of originals for 2013, ABC’s comedies Last Man Standing (1.5/5) and Malibu Country (1.4/4) were both up. Last Man rose 7% over last week with Malibu up a strong 17% over its 1.2/4 of January 4. There were practical pitches for cleaning toys and keeping your coffee hot longer on Shark Tank (2.0/6) last night. Its audience up to 6.84 million over last week’s 6.338 million, the entrepreneurial reality show saw ratings also rise. Shark Tank was up 11% over last week among Adults 18-49. A false disappearing act was the subject of Fridays’ 20/20 (1.5/4). The newsmagazine series was up 7% from its last show. With 10.303 million watching, CBS won the night among total viewers but tied with ABC for Adults 18-49

Fox’s Fringe (0.8/2) returned from its winter break last night. Watched by just over 2.4 million viewers, last night’s episode fell 20% from its last original on Christmas Eve. Next week will see the two-hour series finale of Fringe. An encore of Kitchen Nightmare (1.0/3) kicked off things on Fox beforehand. NBC started its Friday primetime with back-to-back repeats of the just launched 1600 Penn at 8 PM (0.8/3) and 8:30 PM (0.9/3) A two-hour Dateline (1.4/4) followed. Focusing on the search for a missing nursing student, the news magazine show was down 7% from last week. The CW ran repeats of Nikita (0.3/1) and Arrow (0.3/1).
