Ratings: NBC Sitcoms Fall Hard in Early Numbers Without ‘Voice’ Lead-In
NBC’s struggling Thursday comedies were bolstered last week with a rare “Voice” lead-in. But without one, their initial ratings fell hard, and the return of “Parks and Recreation” couldn’t help.
Last Thursday, an overrun from the singing competition gave NBC’s sitcom lineup a false boost in early numbers. Later, more accurate numbers dropped a bit. Compared to the last week’s preliminary numbers, NBC appears down hard this week — but the ratings didn’t slip as far compared to last week’s final numbers. Last night’s final ratings will be released this afternoon.
CBS was first in ratings Thursday with a 2.5 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and first in total viewers with an average of 10.6 million, according to preliminary numbers.
“The Big Bang Theory” at 8 p.m. was the highest-rated and most-watched show of the night, earning a 5.1/16 and 18 million viewers. “The Millers” at 8:30 received a 2.7/8 and 11.3 million viewers. “The Crazy Ones” at 9 got a 2.1/6 and 8.7 million viewers. At 9:30, “Two and a Half Men” had a 2.1/6 and 8.6 million viewers. “Elementary” at 10 received a 1.6/5 and 8.4 million viewers.
ABC was second in ratings with a 2.1/6 and in total viewers with 7 million. “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” at 8 earned a 0.9/3 — tying its lowest to date — and 3.7 million viewers. At 9, “Grey’s Anatomy” received a 2.6/7 and 8.5 million viewers. “Scandal” at 10 got a 2.9/8 and 9 million viewers.
Fox was third in ratings with a 1.4/4 and in total viewers with 4.9 million. “X Factor” at 8 earned a 1.4/4 and 5.3 million viewers. At 9, “Glee” received a 1.5/4 and 4.5 million viewers.
Univision was in fourth in ratings with a 1.2/4 and fifth in total viewers with 3.2 million.

NBC was in fifth in ratings with a 1.1/3 and fourth in viewers with 3.5 million. At 8, “Parks and Recreation” earned a 1.2/4 — tying its series low — and 3.3 million viewers. “Sean Saves the World” at 9 received a 1.0/3 — down 29 percent from final numbers last week, when the show had the “Voice” lead-in, and tying its lowest rating to date. The show got 3.2 million viewers. Thursday’s “Michael J. Fox Show” at 9:30 earned a 1.0/3 — tying its lowest to date — and 2.9 million viewers. “Parenthood” at 10 got a 1.3/4 and 4.1 million viewers.
The CW was sixth in ratings with a 1.0/3 and in total viewers with 2.2 million. “Vampire Diaries” at 8 earned a 1.3/4 and 2.7 million viewers. “Reign” at 9 earned a 0.7/2 and 1.7 million.
Telemundo was seventh in ratings with a 0.5/1 and in total viewers with 1.2 million.
