Ratings: 'Homeland' Hits Series High, Surpasses 'Dexter'

Showtime's hit drama "Homeland" reached a series high Sunday night, surpassing the veteran Showtime series "Dexter," the network said Tuesday.

Also read: "Homeland" Hits Series High as Showtime Sets Record for Original Series Sunday's 10 p.m. airing of "Homeland" pulled in 2.2 million total viewers, making it the most-watched episode of the series, which is currently winding down its second season. By comparison, "Dexter" pulled in 2.1 million total viewers with its 9 p.m. airing. This marks the first time that "Homeland" has beaten "Dexter," currently in its seventh season, in ratings. Also read: "Homeland" Duo Lands FBI Drama Pilot With CBS For the night overall, with encore airings taken into account, "Dexter" edged out "Homeland" -- which stars Claire Danes as CIA officer Carrie Mathison -- with 2.63 million total viewers versus 2.5 million for "Homeland." Both series will air their season finales Dec. 16.
