Based on the 2011 Cameron Diaz flick, the single-camera comedy stars Ari Graynor (Fringe) as Meredith Davis, a sexy, foul-mouthed divorcee who becomes a teacher to find her next husband.

Davis will co-star as Ginny, a history teacher, choir director, faculty president and Meredith’s nemesis (basically, the part Lucy Punch played in the movie).

The cast also includes Sara Gilbert (The Talk), David Alan Grier (In Living Color) and Ryan Hansen (Veronica Mars).

Community and Happy Endings scribe Hilary Winston wrote the script and will serve as an EP alongside the team behind the film version, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupinsky.

If the pilot gets a green light from CBS, Bad Teacher would mark Davis’ third full-time (live action) TV gig, following Melrose Place and SATC.
