Pilot Scoop: Anthony LaPaglia Eyes Role Opposite Felicity Huffman In Fox's Boomerang

Without a Trace‘s Anthony LaPaglia is in talks to star opposite Felicity Huffman in Boomerang, Fox’s drama pilot about a family of hired guns, TVLine has learned.

The project, from ER and Shameless vet John Wells, focuses on the usual, everyday drama surrounding a family business — except this family is in the business of executing hits as assassins for the U.S. government.

LaPaglia would play the clan’s ex-CIA patriarch Bill, a seasoned assassin with a neurotic side who takes his job very seriously. Huffman previously closed a deal to play his wife, a briskly professional killer who can kill and dispose of a suspected terrorist in an afternoon — then switch to wife and mother mode without a hitch.

Michael Stahl-David (The Black Donnellys) and Patrick Heusinger (Gossip Girl) round out the cast as the couple’s two adult sons.

Davey Holmes (Pushing Daisies, Awake) penned the script and Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) is set to direct. Both will also serve as EPs alongside Wells and Andrew Stearn (Shameless).
