Pilot Scoop: Andre Braugher Cast as Andy Samberg's Boss in Fox Police Comedy
Andre Braugher must love playing a man in uniform.
The Last Resort star has signed on as a police captain in Fox’s cop-comedy pilot starring Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg.
Braugher will play Capt. Holt, a 30-year veteran of the New York City police force. Holt has finally gotten his own command and he’s not going to let anyone — especially Samberg’s Jake — mess it up.
Parks and Recreation co-creator Mike Schur and executive producer Dan Goor are behind the single-camera project, which revolves around a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the very edge of the Big Apple. Samberg also will produce.
Braugher joins the previously cast Melissa Fumero (One Life to Live), who’ll play the show’s female lead.
Braugher led the Colorado on ABC’s cancelled Last Resort, which recently wrapped its first and only season. His long list of TV credits also includes Men of a Certain Age and Homicide: Life on the Street.
