Per our sister site Deadline, the actor is set to star opposite Debra Messing in CBS‘ untitled comedy from Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky and based on the Israeli series Mother’s Day.

In the single-camera comedy about a married mom struggling to balance family, life, and work, Adelstein will play Messing’s TV husband Bryan, a Google employee who might be a smidge oblivious to how much of a burden his wife is contending with.

Previously this pilot season, Adelstein’s Private Practice scene partner KaDee Strickland booked a role on NBC’s pulp drama Bloodline, while Taye Diggs landed the male lead in TNT’s Murder in the First pilot from Stephen Bochco. Earlier this month, there was talk that Kate Walsh is being eyed as the lead in an NBC comedy pilot from Will Ferrell’s production company.
