The single-camera sitcom centers on a son who idolizes his blind father — played by Simmons — and enjoys his mom’s newfound adolescence after his folks divorce… and ultimately grow closer. Posey plays the mom.

The project comes from exec producers Nash (Bent), Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) and Jim Garavente (Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium).

Simmons’ casting is in second position to the upcoming ABC comedy Family Tools, which premieres May 1.

The actor also recently booked a guest spot on NBC’s Parks and Recreation as the mayor of Partridge, Minn.
